Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville-based nonprofit, Soles4Souls, has partnered with Nashville Soccer Club, GEODIS, and MAPCO for a month-long shoe collection initiative with a goal to collect 10,000 pairs of shoes.
The donated shoes will be used in Soles4Souls' micro-enterprise program, which creates jobs in Haiti, Honduras and other developing nations. The micro-enterprise model provides individuals the ability to start small businesses by providing a steady supply of high-quality, low-cost product. They also give a second life to unwanted shoes, keeping them out of landfills and protecting the environment.
The partnership kicked off this past Sunday, August 21, at the Nashville SC game where Soles4Souls was honored as part of the club's initiative, Section 615. Soles4Souls also participated as the GEODIS Community Flag bearers on the pitch prior to kickoff.
Gently used shoes can be donated at the next three home games or the six participating MAPCO locations. GEODIS is also collecting shoes from employees at their office in Brentwood.
The next three Nashville SC home matches played at GEODIS Park will be on the following dates and the collection bins will be located at all entrances of the stadium.
Wednesday, August 31 at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 10 at 2:30 p.m.
The six MAPCO locations that will be receiving donations are:
MAPCO on 2115 21st Avenue South
MAPCO on 2616 Franklin Pike
MAPCO on 1501 Murfreesboro Road
MAPCO on 1883 Almaville Road
