Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced on Thursday that Club' legend Nacho Piatti is joining the organization as a scouting collaborator with the sporting staff.
"We are pleased that Nacho agreed to take this new role with us," said CF Montréal President and CEO Gabriel Gervais. "It's important to stay connected with our history and one way to achieve it is to collaborate with our former players. Nacho is joining a long list of alumni already working or collaborating with our club. Knowing the team culture, the city and MLS, he will not only be a scout with contacts in South America and Europe but also a great ambassador based in Argentina."
"It's important to use all resources available to get better in our scouting," said CF Montréal Vice-President and Chief Sporting Officer Olivier Renard. "It's a great opportunity to continue this valuable collaboration with Nacho. It's good for him and for the Club to keep working together after his playing career."
"I'm happy to have the chance to help the Club," said Nacho Piatti. "I will be able to contribute by watching many players in Argentina and by leveraging my contacts in the soccer community globally. I'm glad to continue this journey with CF Montréal and to stay close to the fans in Quebec."
Named Most Valuable Player by the club four times, from 2015 to 2018, and selected twice to the MLS Best XI, in 2016 and 2018, Piatti played six MLS seasons with the Club, scoring 78 goals (all competitions). Piatti ranks first in MLS club history with 130 regular-season starts, 11,427 minutes played, 66 goals, 35 assists, 15 penalty goals, 15 game-winning goals, 13 game-winning assists, 14 multi-goal games, 284 fouls suffered, 361 shots and 152 shots on goal.
He also registered five goals and three assists in eight starts in the MLS Cup Playoffs, helping the club reach the Eastern Conference Final in 2016. In the Concacaf Champions League in 2014-2015, Piatti helped the team reach the final against Mexican giant Club América, tallying two goals and one assist in 526 minutes played.
