Charlotte FC News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC - Charlotte FC today announced forward Andre Shinyashiki has signed a new contract through the 2025 season with a Club option for 2026.
Shinyashiki, who was acquired from the Colorado Rapids in May, is the Club's second leading goal scorer. The Brazilian has scored five goals in MLS play and added another in a 5-1 rout of the Richmond Kickers in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
"We're excited to sign Andre to a new long-term contract, and we're delighted with his performance for the Club so far this season. We are proud to establish ourselves as a Club where young, talented players like Andre want to spend the prime parts of their careers," said Sporting Director Zoran Krneta. "Andre's passion and fire on the pitch has endeared himself to our fans from day one and he will be an integral part of our plan as we continue to build a competitive Club for seasons to come."
In his first game for Charlotte FC, Shinyashiki came off the bench and scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Inter Miami.
"I am very happy to sign a new contract to stay at Charlotte FC and want to thank the front office for believing in me as a player and seeing me as a valuable part of this team for the years to come. The Club continues to make great strides both on and off the pitch and has a great vision for the future, including the new facility that we'll move into next year. We share a winning mentality and passion for competing and I hope to help Charlotte FC bring home the trophies this city deserves," said Shinyashiki. "I am thankful to the fans for their support, and I look forward to giving my all on the field for them during the seasons ahead."
Charlotte FC acquired forward Andre Shinyashiki from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for $225,000 in 2022 GAM with a conditional $175,000 GAM if specific performance incentives are met.
Shinyashiki spent a little over three seasons with the Rapids and scored 21 goals adding seven assists in league play. He played 32 times for the Rapids in 2021 where they topped the table in the Western Conference.
The 25-year-old São Paulo native was drafted 5th overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft out of Denver University. He was voted MLS Rookie of the Year that season after a seven goal, three assist debut season.
