
Solar Bears Sign Veteran Forward Curt Gogol

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears have announced the club has agreed to terms with veteran forward Curt Gogol on a Standard Player Contract. Additionally, the Solar Bears have traded rookie forward Ryan Siiro to the Fort Wayne Komets in exchange for future considerations, while forward Mitch Hults has been reassigned from Orlando to the Syracuse Crunch by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Gogol, 27, began the 2018-19 season overseas, suiting up for Kalmar HC in Sweden's Hockeyettan (one assist and six penalty minutes in four games) and Manglerud Star Ishockey in Norway's GET-ligaen (one goal and 69 penalty minutes in six games).
In 301 career pro games, Gogol has generated 93 points (46g-47a) and 1,110 penalty minutes. His previous experience in the ECHL includes stints with the Alaska Aces, Colorado Eagles, Florida Everblades and Greenville Swamp Rabbits, producing 66 points (30g-36a) and 392 penalty minutes in 111 games.
Prior to turning pro, the Calgary, Alberta native played for the Kelowna Rockets, Saskatoon Blades and Chilliwack Bruins of the Western Hockey League, where he posted 26 points (7g-19a) and 494 penalty minutes in 169 games. He also helped Kelowna capture the 2009 Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL champions in 2009.
Siiro, 25, had recorded four penalty minutes in three games with Orlando this season after signing on July 17.
Hults, 23, was assigned to Orlando from Syracuse by the Lightning on Oct. 22 and skated in two games with the Solar Bears, recording one assist. He also has an assist in three combined AHL games in the 2018-19 campaign with San Diego and Syracuse.
