Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, have loaned forward Braylon Shmyr to the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League.

The rookie forward is tied for the ECHL lead in both points (14) and goals (7). Shmyr was signed by Allen as a free agent in September. He joined Allen late last season and had four points in nine games.

Shmyr played his junior hockey in the Western Hockey League with the Brandon Wheat Kings from 2013 to 2016, and then two seasons with the Saskatoon Blades in both 2017 and 2018. In his final season with Saskatoon, he led his team in scoring by putting up 88 points in 72 games (37 goals and 51 assists), which was 30 points more than his next teammate.

The Americans resume play this Friday and Saturday when the South Carolina Stingrays come to Allen. Tickets are on sale NOW at www.allenamericans.com or call 972-912-1000.
