Orlando Solar Bears News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, have announced that the team has loaned defenseman Eric Baier and forward Rylan Schwartz to the Marlies after both players signed Professional Try-Out Agreements with Orlando's AHL affiliate.

Baier, 27, is in his third season with the Solar Bears and currently serves as captain along with fellow blueliner Carl Nielsen. In 37 games with Orlando this season, Baier has logged 22 points (6g-16a) and four penalty minutes, and leads the Solar Bears in plus-minus at +10.

The veteran of 307 professional games makes his return to the AHL after suiting up in 12 contests with the Albany Devils during the 2014-15 campaign, recording one goal, two assists and four penalty minutes.

Schwartz, 26, joined the Solar Bears on Dec. 27 and has tallied 14 points (7g-7a) and six penalty minutes in 11 games with Orlando. The forward returns to the AHL after spending 123 games over the first three seasons of his pro career with the Worcester Sharks, in which he accumulated 37 points (11g-26a) and 42 penalty minutes.

The Solar Bears conclude their season-high seven-game road trip when they face the Florida Everblades in a Wawa Sunshine Cup Series game as they continue their fourth season in the ECHL, presented by Auto Justice Attorney Michael T. Gibson, P.A., on Friday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Germain Arena. Fans can tune into the game on iHeartSolarBears.com or watch via ECHL.TV.
