
Solar Bears Add Defenseman Blake Thompson

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Orlando Solar Bears have announced the club has signed rookie defenseman Blake Thompson to an Amateur Try-Out Agreement.
Thompson, 24, recently completed a four-year collegiate career with NCAA Division III program St. Norbert College, where the 6-foot-1, 205-pound blueliner tallied 12 points (3g-9a) and 40 penalty minutes for the Green Knights this season.
The Listowel, Ontario native skated in 112 career games for St. Norbert, totaling 73 points (19g-54a) and 170 penalty minutes, while helping the program capture a national championship during his freshman season of 2013-14, when he was also teammates with current Solar Bears forward Joe Perry.
The Orlando Solar Bears continue their fifth season of ECHL hockey when they take on the South Carolina Stingrays today at 3:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum.
