Komm Stops 31 Shots in 3-0 Shutout of Eagles

Colorado Eagles News Release

BOISE, ID. - Idaho goaltender Branden Komm stopped all 31 shots thrown his way, as the Steelheads defeated the Colorado Eagles 3-0 on Saturday. Kent Simpson turned aside 24 of Idaho's 27 shots in the loss, as Colorado was held 0-for-2 on the power play. The Steelheads made good on two of their five opportunities on the man-advantage.

Idaho snagged an early lead when defenseman Brandon Anselmini fired a shot from the blue line on the power play to give the Steelheads the 1-0 edge just 7:02 into the contest. The advantage would be stretched to 2-0 when Idaho found itself back on the power play and forward Jefferson Dahl would take a cross slot pass and slam the puck into the back of the net at the 8:56 mark of the second period.

Less than five minutes later, the Steelheads would win a faceoff in the Eagles zone and forward Rob Linsmayer would slip a puck through the leg pads of Eagles goalie Kent Simpson, making it a 3-0 Steelheads lead.

Heading into the third period, Colorado would throw an additional 10 shots on net, pulling Simpson with just over four minutes remaining in the period in favor of the extra attacker. The effort would be stymied by Komm and the Steelheads who would hold on for the 3-0 victory.

The Eagles will be back in action when they travel to take on the Rapid City Rush on Friday, April 7th at 7:05pm MT at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
