Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Tampa Bay Rays have announced that LHP Blake Snell - the Rays' number-one left-handed pitching prospect - has been promoted from A+ Charlotte to the Biscuits.

Snell, 22, was 3-0 with the Stone Crabs while not allowing a single run in 21 innings. The lefty has compiled 27 strikeouts with eleven walks while holding opponents to a .143 average. He is now in Double-A for the first time.

Snell - the 2014 Rays Minor League Pitcher of the Year - split last season between A- Bowling Green and Charlotte. He went 8-8 with the second best ERA in the organization (3.20) and the third most strikeouts (119). The former-first round pick also threw a rain-shortened no-hitter against the Daytona Cubs in 2014.

The Rays used one of their ten first round picks in 2011 to select Snell 52nd overall out of Shoreline High School in Washington. The lefty turned down a scholarship to the University of Washington and started his professional career.

The Biscuits active roster is now at the league-max of 25.
