Beloit Sky Carp News Release

After finishing the first half with a winning record for the third consecutive season, the Snappers got rolling in the second half with a 3-1 win over the Peoria Chiefs. Reliever Charles Nolte picked up the victory, going three innings and striking out one Chief.

Beloit got going first in the top of the third inning behind the speed of Estarlin De Los Santos. De Los Santos led off with a single, stole second base and eventually scored on a Joe Benson double play groundout. Estarlin's run put the Snappers up 1-0 after two and a half.

Peoria answered right back in the bottom of the third inning with a run of their own. Cliff Anderson tripled with one out and later scored on a throwing error from Beloit's Deibinson Romero. Anderson's run tied the game up at 1-1 after three innings.

The Snaps scored two more in the top of the eighth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Estarlin De Los Santos led off with a solo homer to left and Chris Parmelee delivered an RBI-sacrifice fly to left. Estarlin and Chris gave the Snappers a two-run lead heading into the bottom of the eighth.

Beloit's Charles Nolte took it from there, allowing just three hits over the last three innings to close the door on the Chiefs. Nolte and the Snappers went on to win by the final of 3-1.

The Snappers got an impressive outing from starter Michael McCardell, who went six innings and allowed just one run off four hits.

Paul Kelly and Estarlin De Los Santos both collected two hits for the Snaps, who improved to 1-0 in the second half.
