July 10, 2018 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release
Beloit, WI - Pohlman Field became a launching pad on Monday night, as the Snappers outslugged Clinton, 8-7. Beloit racked up 12 hits on the night, including two-hit performances from Athletics No. 6 prospect Lazaro Armenteros, Logan Farrar and Mickey McDonald, as well as a three-hit night for Jesus Lopez.
The Snappers broke the game open in the bottom of the second. After Lopez and Farrar reached on back-to-back knocks to start the inning, McDonald hit an RBI single. JaVon Shelby followed with a booming three-run shot over the scoreboard in left center field. Beloit's offense continued its onslaught in the third when Lopez and Farrar hit back-to-back solo home runs. It was the first time the Snappers went back-to-back since May 26 in Burlington, when Hunter Hargrove and Farrar completed the feat.
That would be the end of the line for LumberKings starter Raymond Kerr (3-9, 4.54 ERA), who struggled in his three innings of work. He allowed six runs on eight hits while walking one and striking two.
It appeared early on that the Snappers were going to breeze to a blowout victory, as Jared Poche' (5-6, 4.65 ERA) held down Clinton's offense. He threw six innings while giving up two runs on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
On in relief of Poché in the seventh, lefty Josh Reagan let the LumberKings back into the game. Juan Camacho and Ariel Sandoval hit two and three-run home runs respectively to cut their deficit to 8-7. Nick Highberger and Joseph Camacho then combined for 2 1/3 innings to close out the Snappers' win.
The Snappers are off tomorrow and then travel to South Bend for a three-game set. The Cubs will send Ryan Lawlor (0-0, 0.00 ERA) to the mound, while Beloit has yet to announce their starter.
