Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The Quad Cities River Bandits, in conjunction with the Houston Astros, have announced the following changes to their roster on Tuesday. Pitchers Luis Garcia and Bryan Abreu have been transferred from Tri-City (Short Season-A) to Quad Cities. Pitcher Carlos Sanabria has been transferred from Quad Cities to Buies Creek (Advanced-A). Pitcher Dariel Aquino released.

Garcia pitched with the River Bandits earlier this season from April 13-May 26. In nine games, including four starts, he was 1-2 with a 3.10 earned run average. He struck out 32 batters in 29.0 innings. His last five appearances this season have come with Tri-City, where he did not allow an earned run in 16.1 innings. Garcia was signed as an international free agent out of Venezuela in 2017.
Abreu was signed as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2013. The 21-year old made four appearances with Tri-City and was 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA. He allowed 11 hits and racked up 22 strikeouts in 16.0 innings on the mound with the ValleyCats.
Sanabria moves to Buies Creek after tossing in 25 games out of the River Bandits bullpen this season. He had put together a 2-1 record with a 3.86 ERA over 37.1 innings. The native of Venezuela recorded 55 strikeouts against just 11 walks this season and limited the opposition to a .217 batting average against him. Sanabria ranked third among all relievers in the Midwest League with an average of 13.26 strikeouts per nine innings.
Aquino, 22, had appeared in 13 games in a relief role. He surrendered 18 runs on 19 hits over 12.0 innings of work.
Garcia will wear #29 and Abreu will wear #21. The active roster remains at 25 players.
