Beloit Sky Carp News Release

BELOIT, WI - Nothing could put a damper on the Snappers' PAW Patrol and fireworks night, but the Quad Cities sluggers sure attempted to. The Snappers held close through 4 innings, but the Bandits bats' proved too mighty for the Snappers' pitching staff.

2019 All-Star Aiden McIntyre started on the bump for Beloit after a 5 inning outing that showed promise of return to his All-Star form. McIntyre worked through jams in all of his 4 innings, but he still unfortunately gave up 6 runs, 5 of which were earned, on 7 hits and 5 walks.

Snappers' hitters would not go easily in the first half of tonight's game, though, as they would put up 2 pairs of runs in both the third and fourth inning. The Snappers' would fill the bases in the 3rd inning with one out and on a sac-fly by catcher John Jones and Nick Osborne single, the Snappers' cut the Bandits' lead 2-5. In the following inning, the Snappers would get run support again with 1 out after a single by Santis Sanchez, Joseph Pena would triple and Max Schuemann would ground put the game well within reach for the Snappers at 4-6.

Unfortunately, the Snappers' bullpen would not hold up as Brandon Withers and Calvin Coker would combine for 4 innings of work in which they allowed 8 runs to score on 5 hits and 2 walks. Only 5 of the 8 runs would come as earned runs, but the damage was done. Infielder Nick Ward would pitch the 9th inning for the Snappers in 3rd appearance on the mound in a snappers uniform. If there's one thing to note, Ward in 2.1 innings pitched as an emergency pitcher has yet to allow a run and only has allowed 2 hits and 1 walk.

The Snappers are back at it tomorrow with a double header at Pohlman Field as they will make up a game from the end of June versus the River Bandits. So far in 2019, the Snappers are 1-3-4 in double header play and look to improve upon that in hopefully the last double header games at Pohlman Field in 2019.

Tomorrow, Rafael Kelly will take the mound as he totes a 4-4 record and a 5.15 ERA in 9 starts in 2019. Game time tomorrow is at 2:00 PM in Beloit, WI, with the second game following shortly after the first. Tomorrow Engman-Taylor will sponsor the Snappers' Blanket Giveaway and the Snappers' staff urge those who are interested to line up early to secure your opportunity for the great giveaway.

The Beloit Snappers are a member of the Midwest League and have been the Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. For more ticket information, contact the Snappers office at (608) 362-2272 or visit our website, www.snappersbaseball.com.
