Peoria took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning off Snappers starter Alexander Smit and never looked back. The Chiefs extended their lead to 3-0 with a run in the sixth inning. Three runs were all Peoria needed as they won 3-0. Smit suffered his first loss of the season at Pohlman Field as he fell to 7-2 overall. He did manage to strikeout 10 batters. Peoria starter Mitch Atkins threw 7 and 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out seven. Juan Portes led the Snappers offense, going two for three at the plate.
Upcoming Schedule: The Snappers and Chiefs play the second game of this four game series Saturday, September 2. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm at Pohlman Field.
