Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

CLINTON, IA -- The Clinton LumberKings scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on for a 3-2 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Friday night at Alliant Energy Field. Ian Gac delivered the go ahead run with a double. Juan Jimenez pitched seven solid innings for the win and Gerry Oakes held the Rattlers off the scoreboard for the final two innings for the save. The loss was the third straight for the Rattlers and all three defeats have been by one run.

The Rattlers (51-86 overall, 24-43 second half) got in front with a run in the top of the first inning. Adam Moore's two-out single drove the run. But, Clinton (45-91, 22-45) got the game back to even as Jose Vallejo scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the first.

Stan Posluszny gave the Rattlers the lead back with a two-out RBI single in the top of the fifth. But, that was it for the Rattler scoring. They would get no more hits off Jimenez and would not get their next hit until a two-out single by Eddy Hernandez in the top of the ninth.

Clinton took their first lead with a pair runs in the bottom of the sixth. An RBI grounder by Grant Gerrard sent the tying run home. Gac followed with an RBI double and Clinton was in front 3-2. Gac had been 0-for-14 in four games against the Timber Rattlers until coming through with that double.

Wisconsin got two on base with two out against Oakes in the ninth. Hernandez singled and Robby Hudson drew a four pitch walk from Oakes. Gerardo Avila was next and he took ball one. However, Avila swung at the next pitch and popped out to Oakes behind the mound for the final out.

The Rattlers and LumberKings face each other again on Saturday night. Juan Colon (1-2, 6.39ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. Joey McLaughlin (1-0, 5.00ERA) is slated to start for Clinton. Game time is 7:00pm.
