Smokies Add Maine To Roster Sunday

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, have added LHP Scott Maine to the active roster in advance of the team's Sunday afternoon doubleheader. In a related roster move, LHP Jeremy Papelbon was placed on the disabled list, retroactive to Wednesday, April 21.

Maine joins the Smokies for the first time in his career after starting the 2010 season with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs. He spent the 2009 campaign with the Reno Aces, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Maine was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the sixth round of the 2007 MLB First-Year Player Draft. The Cubs acquired Maine from Arizona with infielder Ryne White, for pitcher Aaron Heilman.

Papelbon was 0-0 with a 6.35 ERA in three appearances for Tennessee this season, striking out 11 in only 11.1 innings. He was drafted by the Cubs in the 19th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.
