Orange County Flyers News Release

YUMA, Ariz. (August 13, 2010) - Jesse Smith kept the Tijuana Cimarrones in check for his first complete game of the season as the Orange County Flyers earned a 6-1 win in the first game of Friday's daytime doubleheader in Yuma. Smith (4-3) struck out the first four batters he faced en route to a seven strike out night, allowing one run and scattering seven hits without walking a batter.

Orange County struck first when Steve Boggs and Jimmy Rohan singled in the first inning, and Sergio Pedroza knocked a two-run double to bring them home. In the third inning, Tijuana pitcher Alberto Fraijo walked back to back batters before serving up a three-run homerun to Julian Benavidez for a 5-0 Flyers lead.

Tijuana answered on a Youhei Kokubo solo homerun in the bottom of the third, but the Cimarrones would not score again. The Flyers turned a pair of double plays in the fourth and fifth innings to stifle the opponent's scoring chances.

Fraijo (0-1) took the loss for Tijuana in a complete game losing effort. Fraijo allowed six runs on eight hits while striking out seven but walking four batters.

Jimmy Rohan scored three runs in the game, finishing 2-for-3 with a walk and his GBL-leading 104th and 105th hits of the season.

The five-game series against Tijuana in Yuma wraps up this afternoon with the second game of today's doubleheader beginning at 2pm Pacific. The games can be heard live online through Live365 at http://www.live365.com/stations/ocflyers'sitepro.
