Pittsfield Colonials News Release

PITTSFIELD, MA - Sean Smith tied a Can-Am League record with five hits and also made two strong defensive plays in centerfield as the New Jersey Jackals snapped the Pittsfield Colonials six-game winning streak with an 8-4 win.

With New Jersey leading 3-1 in the sixth, the Jackals salted the game away with a three-run frame as a single by Sean Smith, a sac fly by Mike DeJesus and a ground rule double by D'Angelo Jimenez pushed the New Jersey lead to 6-1.

The Colonials came back undaunted with a run in the bottom of the sixth and two runs in the seventh on a Danny Bomback single. However the Jackals responded in each of the next half innings to push the lead to 8-4.

New Jersey got out on the board in the first inning with a pair of runs on an RBI single from Myron Leslie and a sacrifice fly by Mike Jones for a 2-0 lead. Pittsfield came back in the third on a Danny Bomback sac fly to slice the lead to 2-1.

A.J. Wideman (3-2) got the win for New Jersey, going 6.2 innings. Miguel Flores (2-8) took the loss for Pittsfield.

The final game of the series against New Jersey comes up on Monday at 7 p.m. as Chad Paronto (6-5, 4.34) will start for Pittsfield against Isaac Pavlik (10-2, 2.30) for the Jackals. For tickets or information visit pittsfieldcolonials.com or call (413)-236-2961.
