PITTSFIELD, MA - For the second straight night, Danny Bomback drove in the winning run for the Pittsfield Colonials in the eighth inning as the Colonials earned their sixth consecutive win, a 6-5 downing of the New Jersey Jackals.
With the game tied at 5-5 in the eighth, Scott Knazek walked with one out. Jermel Lomack grounded a ball to second base. Myron Leslie wheeled and fired the ball wide of shortstop Mike DeJesus, allowing Knazek to move to third. Two batters later, Danny Bomback bounced a single through the middle, to score Knazek and put the Colonials ahead 6-5.
The Colonials scored a run in the bottom of the first inning as Billy Mottram brought home Jerod Edmondson who had singled and stole second for a 1-0 lead.
The lead would hold until the top of the fifth inning when Myron Leslie singled home D'Angelo Jimenez, who had walked with one out, to tie the game at 1-1.
Pittsfield would break through in the bottom of the inning as with Scott Knazek on second and Edmondson on first, Danny Bomback singled to left, scoring Knazek, making it 2-1 Colonials. On the play, the ball was bobbled in left by Jordan Newton allowing Edmondson to move to third and Bomback to go to second. The defensive miscue proved to be costly as Mottram came up and bounced a ball to second, good enough to score Edmondson and put Pittsfield up 3-1.
