Slow Night in Val D'Or

Friday's game for the Mooseheads in Val d'Or wasn't one to remember for the visitors in a 5-2 loss to the last place Foreurs. Jordan Dumais and Cade Moser scored first period goals but that was it for the offense in a game that didn't provide much in terms of excitement by the Mooseheads in the final two periods of regulation.
Jack Milner was between the pipes for the defeat and managed to make 22 saves on 26 shots while Emile Beaunoyer helped Val d'Or secure the upset win with 29 saves on 31 shots. The Foreurs fought back from the early two-goal deficit with a big four-goal effort in the third period and earned just their eighth win of the season.
David Doucet and Connor Macey each scored twice for the Foreurs while Tomas Cibulka sealed the win with an empty net tally.
Head Coach Jim Midgley was trying some different tactics in an attempt to make something happen in a humdrum effort from his team. Midgley split up the big three of Jordan Dumais, Mathieu Cataford and Markus Vidicek for the first time this season by moving Cataford to second line centre and putting Ethan Larmand on the wing with Vidicek and Dumais. He also kept the top line on the bench for some extended periods of time in the final stanza.
The road trip has not been a success so far for the Herd following a 5-4 overtime loss on Wednesday night in Blainville and now an unexpected defeat to the team sitting last in the QMJHL standings. Halifax has a chance to salvage the trip on Saturday night, albeit against one of the strongest teams in the league as they get set to face the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. Puck drop is set for 8pm AST.
Halifax (19-6-3-0) will return home to Scotiabank Centre Thursday, December 7th against Drummondville. Halifax will also host Gatineau on Friday, December 8th. Both games are 7pm starts. Friday's contest is Toque Toss Night in Moose Country with fans asked to bring a new winter hat or glove set to throw on the ice when the Mooseheads score their first goal. Hats and gloves will be donated to local homeless shelters. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.ca.
