
Slammers Defeat Washington 11-1

JOLIET, IL - The Washington Wild Things traveled to Illinois to take on the Joliet Slammers in game one of a six game road trip. The Slammers got the best of the Wild Things as they defeated Washington 11-1. Starter Tim Flight would be charged with the loss, while his counterpart Andrew Stenge would earn the win with seven strikeouts in six innings pitched.
The Wild Things took an early 1-0 lead in the first, set up by a single from Sam Mende and two errors by the Joliet infielders. The lead would hold until a two run blast in the third by Phillip Bates gave the advantage to the home team. Joliet would add two more runs in the fourth with a two run RBI single by JD Williams.
Another run in the sixth extended the lead to four, but the Slammers exploded in the eighth inning, scoring six more runs off a bases loaded opportunity and RBI singles from Ryan Moldenhauer and Mike Garza to keep the Slammers well ahead.
