Slammers Beat Crushers 6-1 Sunday and Sweep Series

Avon, OH The Joliet Slammers (36-48) used a 5-run 7th inning to beat Lake Erie (34-49) 6-1 on Sunday. Joliet is now 4-2 in their last six games and they sweep the three-game set. The Crushers have now lost five in a row.

Mike Garza had a pair of doubles and drove in a run, while Marc Flores hit a solo homer. Jeremy Nowak contributed an RBI single and a Jack Cleary fielder's choice scored two runs thanks to a throwing error. Luke Crumley (2-0) pitched very well in his first start to earn the victory. He went 6 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out five. Dan Tobik gave up a run in 1 1/3 innings and Navery Moore pitched a scoreless 9th. Lake Erie has now dropped 8 of their last 10 games. Brad Duffy suffered the loss, allowing 2 earned runs in 6 innings. He allowed four hits while striking out five.

The Slammers return home on Tuesday, August 25th at 7:05pm to open a three-game series vs. Schaumburg. It will be the final 2-dollar Tuesday of the season, as all tickets are just two bucks! Slammers home action can be seen and heard at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/slammervision
