August 23, 2018 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Altoona Curve knocked off the Harrisburg Senators 6-3 Thursday night at PNG Field. Alfredo Reyes' grand slam in the fourth was the difference as the Curve sent the Senators to their fifth straight defeat.
After scoring a run in the first against Senators starting pitcher Sterling Sharp, the Curve broke the game open in a nine-batter five-run fourth. Following an RBI double by Jordan George, the Curve loaded the bases for Alfredo Reyes who hit a grand slam to right as Altoona grabbed a 6-0 lead.
Sharp (5-3) surrendered six runs, five earned, across three and two-thirds frames. Bryan Harper, Ronald Pena, James Bourque and Roman Mendez combined to shutout the Curve over the final four and a third innings.
Alec Keller put the Senators on the board with a two-run home run in the sixth, his second at Double-A this season.
Altoona starting pitcher Cam Vieaux (9-4) earned the win with five shutout innings.
Hunter Jones hit an RBI single in the top of the ninth to bring Carter Kieboom to the plate as the tying run, with runners at first and third and two outs. However, Altoona reliever Geoff Hartlieb induced a game-ending groundout to seal the 6-3 victory.
The Senators continue the road trip with a three-game series at the Akron RubberDucks which starts Friday night. Logan Darnell starts for the Senators opposite 'Duck starter Triston McKenzie. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Canal Park. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Harrisburg 96.5 & 95.3 FM and 1400 AM or at www.cbssportsharrisburg.com beginning at 6:50 p.m.
