Skyy Dogs USA open Kernels homestand tonight

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa â The Cedar Rapids Kernels are going to the dogs this weekend.

Literally.

The Kernels welcome Skyy Dogs USA to the ballpark for shows during Kernels games today and Sunday.

The ballpark will belong to the dogs on Sunday when the Kernels host their first "Bark in the Park.'' Pet owners will be able to bring their pups to the stadium to see a game from the Lawn section. Cost is $4 for the pet owner and $4 for the pup. The latter money will be donated to the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

There will be a doggie parade before Sunday's game, weather permitting.

Before purchasing a ticket for a pet, dog owners must complete an owner/pet information sheet and sign the required documents. They are available online at www.kernels.com.

Today's game time is at 5 p.m. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Sunday's game time is 2 p.m. Gates open at 1 p.m.

The ticket office opens at 10 a.m. today and Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at the Veterans Memorial Stadium box office, by phone at 896-7560 or online at www.kernels.com.
