Skyhawks Win Third Straight with Victory Over Ignite

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - The College Park Skyhawks (13-12) defeated the G League Ignite (9-16) for their third consecutive victory, 131-105 at the Gateway Center Arena on Wednesday night.
The Skyhawks were led by a balanced attack of seven scorers in double figures. It is the first time since Dec. 31, 2022 vs. Lakeland that the Skyhawks had seven in double figures. Two-way guard Donovan Williams led the way with 22 points, his third 20-point outing since joining the Skyhawks. Brandon Williams pitched in with 20 points and five assists.
Ignite got off to a hot start behind 13 first-quarter points by Scoot Henderson and led after the first quarter 36-34. Brandon Williams scored nine points of his own to keep the Skyhawks within striking distance.
The second quarter was highlighted by a 12-0 run in the final 2:52 to end the quarter by College Park. Armoni Brooks led the team with seven points, and the Skyhawks won the quarter, 34-23. College Park took a 68-59 lead into the locker room at half.
To begin the third quarter, the Skyhawks attacked the paint, scoring 21 straight points from inside the area. The Skyhawks scored 34 points for the third consecutive quarter and held Ignite to just 19 points on 5-20 FG and 1-5 3FG. It was the sixth time this season that the Skyhawks have held an opponent to fewer than 20 points in a quarter.
Donovan Williams scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter to help the Skyhawks take their largest lead of the game in the fourth quarter, 119-90, with 6:12 left in the period. The Skyhawks eased to a victory in the end. The Skyhawks now sit 0.5 games back of a spot in the NBA G League Playoffs.
"We have to take care of business for this playoff push, and especially at home," said Skyhawks Head Coach Steve Gansey. "I'm glad we got it done tonight, now we have to do it again tomorrow."
Ignite had six players in double figures, including Henderson with 17 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Leonard Miller chipped in with 18 points (7-12 FG) off the bench in 26 minutes.
The Skyhawks and Ignite will wrap up their two-game series on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET before hitting the road to Delaware with a matchup with the Blue Coats. The Skyhawks and Blue Coats will meet on Saturday, March 11 with tip-off set for 6 p.m. ET.
