College Park, Ga. - The College Park Skyhawks (8-4) returned to action after a week off with a win over the Greensboro Swarm (3-11), 114-73 on Wednesday. The Skyhawks set a team record for points allowed, besting the 79 points allowed to Greensboro on Nov. 29, 2023, as well as for opponent field goal percentage (23-79 FG, .291 FG%).
Chris Silva recorded his third 20-point, 10-rebound double-double of the season, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes. In total, seven Skyhawks finished in double figures. Hawks two-way forward Miles Norris recorded his first double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
College Park began the game on a 26-4 run with 4:39 left in the first quarter. The Skyhawks allowed the Swarm to score 12 points (3-16 FG, .188 FG%) in the first quarter to take a 32-12 lead - marking the fewest points allowed by the Skyhawks in an opening quarter and tying a team record for fewest points allowed in any quarter. The Skyhawks took a 59-34 lead into the break, with their 34 points allowed (10-37 FG, .270 FG%) tying a team record for fewest points allowed in a half (2H on 12/30/19 vs. WES). The Swarm were led by Amari Bailey, who poured in 18 points on 7-18 FG in 33 minutes.
The Skyhawks will visit Maine for a two-game set with the Maine Celtics beginning Friday at 7 p.m., with the conclusion on Saturday at 7 p.m. The two-game series with Maine marks the final games before the team heads to Orlando for the 2023 NBA G League Winter Showcase.
Teams with the best win percentage in each NBA G League regional pod, along with the four teams with the next best win percentage across the league, will go on to play for the Showcase Cup at Winter Showcase, which will take place from Dec. 19-22. These top eight teams will play in a single-elimination tournament with the winner and runners-up competing for a trophy and a monetary prize pool. The remaining G League teams who do not qualify to compete for the Showcase Cup Championship will each play an additional two games at Winter Showcase. Full standings can be found here.
