Skyhawks Release Two Late-Season Aquisitions

SUSSEX, NJ (September 7, 2006) - Ben Wittkowski, General Manager of the Sussex Skyhawks, announced today that 1B/DH Jeremy Booth and DH Candito Martinez have been released.

Booth, originally from Culver City, California joined the Skyhawks in the beginning of August. During his time as a Skyhawk, Booth played first base and was used as a designated hitter. In nineteen games with the Skyhawks, Booth finished with a batting average of .222 with 14 hits and 7 RBIs.

Candito "Candy" Martinez joined the Sussex Skyhawks in the middle of August from Yakima, Washington. In a limited role with the Skyhawks, Martinez appeared in ten games as an outfielder, designated hitter and in pinch-hitting situations.

"Jeremy and Candy were brought in late in the season in hopes of helping us turnaround, but unfortunately things did not work that way," said Manager Brian Drahman. "We have a full offseason to rebuild the Skyhawks to be the championship competitor we were in the first half of the 2006 season, and I am confident that we will".

The Skyhawks ended there regular season on September 4. The upcoming 2007 season schedule will be released by the Can-Am league in the near future.
