American Defenders of New Hampshire News Release
(Nashua, NH, September 8, 2006) The New Hampshire Baseball League +40 (NHBL+40) has announced the second annual "Hit for Kids" Baseball Marathon charity event to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs in New Hampshire. This benefit will also help celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Boys & Girls Club of Manchester.
The event will take place during the weekend of September 22-24 at Holman Stadium (home of the Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Team) in Nashua and at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium in Manchester (home of the NH Fisher Cats) where NHBL members will test their stamina in a fun-filled weekend of baseball competition. A number of notables from the major league baseball ranks will also be on hand to aid and abet the competitors.
The marathon begins on Friday September 22nd at Holman Stadium, with the NHBL's Legends Division (+50 players) playing a game starting at 6:00 PM. Ex Red Sox greats Bill Lee, Johnny Pesky and others will be on hand to help kick off this year's event. General admission is $5.00, with all proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Clubs in New Hampshire. Games on Saturday the 23rd will be played at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
On Sunday, September 24th, at Holman Stadium, the NHBL will conduct a free baseball clinic for kids ages 7-13. Ex Red Sox stars Rick Miller, Bill Lee, Ken Ryan, and Dennis Boyd will instruct the clinic, a great chance for your son or daughter to get some tips from real pros! The clinic will begin at 12:00 noon, and kids will enter free. No pre-admission sign-up is required, but anyone who wants to participate should be at the stadium by 11:30 am. Adult admission is $5.00, with all proceeds donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs in New Hampshire.
At 1:45 pm, immediately after the instructional clinic, Bill "Spaceman" Lee and Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd will face off against each other in a game against NHBL +38 veteran players. Admission is $5.00, unless you have already paid admission for the clinic.
Please join the NHBL in this vitally important work of helping the youth of our state grow into caring and responsible adults. If you would like to make a donation or become a business sponsor, contact Frank De Maria at nhbl40@aol.com. If you are a player over the age of 38 or over the age of 50 and wish to participate in the event and try out for the 2007 season, let Frank know at the above email address. You will be asked to complete a player participation form and make a donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs in New Hampshire.
