Skyforce Snaps Spurs' Winning Streak

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce used a balanced scoring attack to defeat the Austin Spurs 117-108, ending the Spurs' 10-game winning streak while extending their winning streak to three games.
JaMychal Green's 12 first quarter-points led all scorers but was not enough for Austin (10-4) to take a lead into the second quarter as a balanced Skyforce (8-7) scoring attack gave them a 35-31 lead at the conclusion of the opening quarter. Eight Skyforce players scored in the opening quarter, six of who scored four or more points. Each team scored 25 points in the second quarter and Sioux Falls took a 60-56 lead into the half. Throughout the first half, the Skyforce bench outscored the Spurs bench, 23 to six.
The Skyforce started the second half on a 10-to-0 run and led 70-56 with 7:46 remaining in the third quarter. JaMychal Green, who had 18 first half points, was held scoreless in the third quarter. Tyler Johnson led Sioux Falls with nine third quarter points and the Skyforce took a 91-76 lead into the final quarter. A Johnson dunk gave Sioux Falls a 103-89 lead with 4:49 remaining. From there, Austin went on a 13-to-5 run and trailed by only six (108-102) with 1:19 remaining. Austin would not get any closer and the Skyforce would end the night with a 117-108 win, ending the Spurs 10-game winning streak. Over the course of the game, the Skyforce bench outscored the Austin bench 43 to 26.
Tyler Johnson led Sioux Falls with 25 points to go along with seven assists and four rebounds. Larry Drew II, coming of a game in which he set the NBA D-League single-game assist record, recorded his fifth straight double-double. Drew II scored 14 points and dished out 12 assists. Scotty Hopson added 24 points and a team high eight rebounds.
JaMychal Green led the Spurs with 22 points, 18 of which came in the first half, and seven rebounds. Orlando Johnson (20 points, eight rebounds) was the only other Austin player to finish with 20 or more points. Jarell Eddie came off the bench and finished with 17 points, all scored in the second half.
The Skyforce will be in action again this Thursday when they travel to play the Central Division leading Grand Rapids Drive (7-6). Austin will be back in action again tomorrow night as the travel to take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (8-8).
