
Skyforce Holds Off Red Claws For First Win Streak Of Season

Sioux Falls, S.D. (Feb. 8, 2011) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Maine Red Claws 107-98 at the Sioux Falls Arena on Tuesday night. Six players scored in double figures for Sioux Falls as they won two straight games for the first time this season.
After an even first quarter Sioux Falls (5-22) outscored Maine 29-24 in the second quarter to take a 58-53 lead into the locker room. Raymond Sykes had a strong first half with 16 points on 7-of-9 field goals. The first half saw 12 lead changes and eight ties.
Sioux Falls never trailed in the second half and led by as many as 14 points (95-81) with 8:24 to go in the contest. Maine (12-20) made one last push and got to within six points (101-95) with just over two minutes to go in the game but six straight points from Miami HEAT assignee Dexter Pittman down the stretch sent Maine to their third straight loss in the Dakotas.
David Bailey (14 points, 12 assists), Pittman (16 points, 12 rebounds) and Patrick Ewing, Jr. (14 points, 11 rebounds) all finished with double-doubles for the Skyforce. Sykes scored a team-high 18 points to continue his strong play off the bench.
Jamar Smith posted a team-high 23 points on 9-of-16 field goals (3-of-3 3-pointers). Mario West scored 16 points while Champ Oguchi added 12 points in a reserve role.
Maine visits Springfield on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. Sioux Falls hosts Idaho in back-to-back meetings on Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. CT.
