Stampede End Wizards Winning Streak

Bismarck, N.D. (Feb. 8, 2011) - The Idaho Stampede (11-19) came into the Bismarck Civic Center almost three hours after the scheduled 7:00 start time and defeated the Dakota Wizards (11-21) 121-108 Tuesday night. A portion of the Stampede team had been stuck in Denver due to airplane delays since early Monday.

The loss ended the Wizards longest winning streak of the season at four games.

Dakota (11-21) held a one point lead at the end of the first but Idaho would catch fire in the second and outscore Dakota 37-28 in the quarter and lead 60-52 at the break. Sean Banks came off the bench and scored 14 of his 21 points to lead Idaho in the first half.

Trailing by eight points to start the third, Dakota went on an 11-2 run and took a 63-62 lead on a Chris Johnson jump shot with 8:46 left. Dakota pushed the lead to as many as eight in the quarter until Lance Hurdle and Seth Tarver each hit a three-pointer to end the quarter and cut the lead to 85-83. The Stampede took an 89-88 lead early in the fourth on an jump shot by Portland Trail Blazers assignee Armon Johnson and would never look back. Idaho would led by as many as 16 in the quarter and cruised to a 121-108 victory.

Six players posted double figures in scoring for Idaho lead by 22 points from Armon Johnson, 21 for Banks, 19 for Lance Hurdle on 5-8 shooting from behind the arc, 15 for Seth Traver, 14 for Antoine Walker and 11 each for Jermareo Davidson and Cedric Jackson. Johnson, Banks and Tarver combined for 58 points off the bench for Idaho.

Dakota was lead by Mike Anderson who posted a double-double with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Chris Johnson added 25 and Javaris Crittenton ended with 13 assists for Dakota.

Idaho visits Sioux Falls Friday and Saturday night at 7p.m. CT. Dakota travels to Iowa for back-to-back games against the Energy this Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. CT.
