Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Sioux Falls, SD (January 3, 2006) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce were defeated by the Yakama Sun Kings tonight 118-105 (6, 1) to move to 12-11 on the season. The Sun Kings were the only team to beat the âForce at home this season prior to tonight and won at the Sioux Falls arena again to end an eight-game home winning streak. Yakama improved to 13-6 with the win and sits a top the Western Conference standings with a 4.0 quarter-points average.
Yakama had split two games in Sioux Falls back in November and easily could have won them both so Sioux Falls knew they were in for a battle. Yakama would only trail at one point in the opening quarter as Sioux Falls led 26-25 late in the quarter. Yakama would regain the lead and won the first quarter 32-30 behind eight points from Leonard White and Antwain Barbour. Yakama would lead by as many as nine points (43-34) in the second quarter, however, the âForce would battle back to tie the game at 55 a piece going into the locker rooms. The âForce would win the second quarter 25-23 behind seven points from Stephen Graham. Sioux Falls would take their largest lead of the game as they went ahead by three points (74-71) halfway through the third quarter. That was the last time the âForce would lead in the game as the Sun Kings stormed back to take an 87-82 lead heading into the final stanza. The Sun Kings won the third quarter 32-27 behind eight points from Rosell Ellis and Leonard White. Anthony Goldwire would put the game out of reach as he scored 21 of his 23 points in the final quarter to lead the Sun Kings to the big road win.
The Skyforce's next game is on Thursday, January 5th, at home against the Yakama Sun Kings. Tip-off is set for 7:05 pm at the Sioux Falls Arena.
