Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Colorado Springs Sky Sox will help the American Cancer Society kick off its "Paint the Town Purple" week on Sunday, June 22nd. During the Sky Sox 1:05 PM game against the Fresno Grizzlies, the Sky Sox players will be wearing special, commemorative purple jerseys, representing hope. Fans will be able to place bids on these items throughout the game in a silent auction that will begin at 12:00 PM and run until the final pitch of the game.

Fans can place bids on these game-worn, autographed jerseys in the Hall of Fame Bar & Grill, along the third-base concourse. The top bid at the conclusion of the silent auction will then serve as the opening bid for the live, on-field auction that will commence following the game. Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society.

In addition, the silent auction portion of the event will feature numerous other items provided by the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and the American Cancer Society. The person bidding highest on these items before the final pitch of the ballgame will be deemed the winner.

The event, which will be preceded by Sky Sox on-field host Jon Eddy's ten-mile walk to Security Service Field, will also include a special pre-game ceremony attended by American Cancer Society District 1 Executive Director, Scott Hall. The chairpersons for the three local "Relay for Life" committees will also be in attendance at the ceremony, as will Colorado Springs Council Woman Jan Martin, who will proclaim the week "American Cancer Society Relay for Life week."
