Redbirds, Isotopes suspended

Memphis, Tenn. - The game between Memphis and Albuquerque Friday night at AutoZone Park was suspended due to rain with the Isotopes leading 6-1.

The ‘Topes scored four runs in the first inning off Redbirds starter Matt Clement, who was making his first rehab start with Memphis. Former Redbird Tagg Bozied drove in two runs with a double before Andrew Beattie's single made it 4-0 Albuquerque. Chase Lambin added a two-run homer in the third inning. Memphis scored their lone run in the bottom of the second inning with David Freese's RBI-single.

Clement allowed six runs on eight hits in three innings with three walks and two strikeouts. The right-hander threw 83 pitches, 39 strikes. Albuquerque starter Bobby Keppel gave up one run on four hits in his three innings.

The game will be resumed in Albuquerque when the Redbirds visit Isotopes Park in August. Memphis travels to Nashville to begin a four-game series tomorrow night. Lefty Jaime Garcia is scheduled to toe the rubber for the ‘Birds tomorrow night against Sounds left-hander Lindsay Gulin. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Greer Stadium.
