Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

WHO: Colorado Springs Sky Sox & Children's Hospital

WHEN: Thursday, May 30 from 11:30 AM to 12:30. Media should plan to arrive no later than 11:15am.

WHAT: Baseball players from the Rockies minor league organization are coming together with Memorial Hospital and Children's Hospital of Colorado to give back to the community. The Sky Sox are working even harder this year to be involved with Colorado Springs organizations outside of baseball.

WHERE: Per the map link below, enter Memorial Hospital Central at the Main Entrance on 1400 E. Boulder St. Free Valet Parking will be available there. Media will need to wait in the main lobby for a Children's Hospital Media escort before entering. They will then be directly lead to the family room. Media may only set up in the family room unless otherwise instructed.

WHY: Sky Sox Players will be visiting child patients and their families in the Children's Hospital Colorado Family Room, located in Children's. The mission of Children's Hospital Colorado Family Room is to provide a refuge within the hospital for families of seriously ill children that are hospitalized at Children's Hospital Colorado at Memorial Hospital. The Sky Sox staff and players hope to be a unique presence in these families lives to distract them from their hardships.

These positive role models are important to be seen by the entire community and not just at Children's Hospital. The media exposure could help these players get their positive message across to children and families who are not lucky enough to meet the players themselves, but instead watch them on television or listen to their message over the radio.
