Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The 2010 baseball season is finally here. As the Sky Sox open their campaign on the road in Tacoma and Portland, Sox fans can still secure tickets to the team's fantastic Opening Weekend presented by Lowe's. The weekend is packed full of exciting promotions and fans can take advantage of buy-one, get-one ticket vouchers for the festivities available at local Wendy's here in Colorado Springs.
The Sky Sox' home opener is Friday, April 16 as the Sox take on the Las Vegas 51s in a 6:05 PM matchup. Fans can celebrate the opening of the home schedule by taking in all the action while also receiving a free Sky Sox magnet schedule courtesy of Salzman Realty Services. In addition, the winner of the Sky Sox National Anthem auditions will be on hand to sing the anthem before the first pitch. The unanimous winner this year was seven year-old Brian Sauber Jr. of Highlands Ranch who wowed the judges at the tryouts in the Chapel Hills Mall earlier this year.
Opening Weekend continues on Saturday, April 17 as Lowe's presents the "Great $100K Giveaway" where one lucky fan will receive the chance to win $100,000. Throughout the game, contestants will compete in different contests to qualify for the final opportunity for the grand prize. After the game concludes, the lucky winner will then be taken to the outfield where multiple bags filled with vouchers ranging in value all the way up to $100,000 will be placed. The contestant then gets to pick two bags to see what cash prize they will win.
Rounding out Opening Weekend presented by Lowe's is Sox the Fox's Birthday and Mascot Madness on Sunday, April 18 including the always popular 50-cent hot dogs presented by the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The fan-favorite mascot of the Sky Sox, Sox the Fox, will be celebrating his birthday in style as all of his friends will be there to help sing happy birthday and celebrate the day. Throughout the game, Sox and his many mascot friends from all over the Front Range region will be entertaining fans and signing autographs for fans young and old.
In addition to the Wendy's buy-one, get-one ticket vouchers for Opening Weekend, there are several ways for Sky Sox fans to get a big bang for their buck. Throughout the season, the Sky Sox offer the Verizon Wireless Military Ticket Discount which gives all active and retired military $2.00 off regular prices. In addition, fans can enjoy Dinner on Saturdays courtesy of the KKTV News $11 Dinner & a Ballgame special which includes an upper reserved ticket and a food voucher for just $11.00. And finally, on Tuesdays, any fan bringing specially marked Kraft Singles wrappers to the stadium box office will receive a buy-one, get-one ticket offer for that night's game.
