Beloit Sky Carp News Release

GRAND CHUTE, Wis.- The Beloit Sky Carp rode a couple of hot bats to a 6-3 victory Friday night over Wisconsin.

The win, which evened the series against the Rattlers at two games each, was highlighted by Jake Thompson's three-hit night and Zach Zubia's two-hit evening.

Both of the infielders are riding hot streaks, and both went deep Friday night. Thompson blasted his team-leading 11th bomb of the season, and third this week, to give Beloit a 1-0 lead in the second.

Zubia, who has received more playing time of late, nailed a two-run blast to make it 3-0 in the fourth. Davis Bradshaw added to the lead with a two-run single in the sixth to give the Carp a 5-0 advantage.

The Rattlers fought back with a pair of runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh, but Kyle Crigger closed the game with 1 2-3 scoreless innings to record his first save of the season.

Gabe Bierman got the start for Beloit and was solid, allowing just two runs in six innings of work to improve to 4-2 on the season.

The Sky Carp and Timber Rattlers will be back at it Saturday night at 6:40 p.m. Beloit's next home game will be Friday, July 14 against Cedar Rapids.

The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
