Sky Carp Can't Solve Cubs
July 2, 2022 - Midwest League (MWL)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT - The Beloit Sky Carp still can't solve the riddle that is the South Bend Cubs.
The Sky Carp fell 2-1 to the Cubs before another great crowd of 2,203 witnessed a fireworks display for the second straight night. The Sky Carp's brand new mascot, Poopsie, entertained the gathered throng all evening long.
Beloit allowed a pair of runs in the second inning, and that was it for the game. Evan Fitterer was the tough-luck loser after allowing the pair of runs in six innings. Justin Evans followed with a pair of scoreless frames, and Sean Reynolds closed the proceedings on the Beloit ledger with a perfect ninth inning.
Beloit scored its only run of the game in the fourth inning on a double by Will Banfield that plated Ynmanol Marinez. The Carp loaded the bases in the ninth inning with two outs before Kyler Castillo flew out to center to end the game.
The Sky Carp and Cubs will play in the finale of their six-game series Sunday evening, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:25. There will be yet another fantastic fireworks show following the game.
