
Frank Nigro Transferred to St. Paul, Mullenbach Returns to Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids, IA - Cedar Rapids catcher Frank Nigro has been transferred to AAA St. Paul. In a corresponding move, the Kernels have added righthanded pitcher Matt Mullenbach from the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. With today's transactions, the Kernels active roster now stands at 24 players.
Nigro played in four games with the Kernels, going 2-for-7 with one RBI and a pair of walks. The catcher threw two of three attempted steals and converted all 29 of his chances in the field. He also threw a scoreless inning of relief last night, striking out two batters.
Mullenbach was a member of the Kernels Opening Day Roster, making five appearances with a 3.18 ERA over 5.2 frames before joining Fort Myers on May 23. The righthander has taken the ball 10 times for the Mighty Mussels, going 3-0 with a 2.12 ERA across 17.0 innings. Mullenbach has posted a 25:4 K:BB ratio over 22.2 innings this season.
