Harrisburg Senators News Release

Matt Skole hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift the Senators to a 3-2 win over the Altoona Curve Friday night at Metro Bank Park. The win was the first of the season for Harrisburg, which improved to 1-1 on the young season.

In his Senators and Nationals organization debut, Joe Ross threw four innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out six. Ross allowed Altoona to load the bases in the first with no outs. However, the right-hander allowed just a run-scoring walk while striking out the side to avoid further damage. An RBI double by Keon Broxton in the top of the second pushed Altoona ahead, 2-1. Following Ross' four innings, Derek Self impressed in his initial three innings of 2015. Self scattered three hits and struck out two in his scoreless outing. Robert Benincasa was solid as well, following Self with two scoreless innings of relief. Paul Demny picked up the win by pitching two scoreless innings while striking out three.

Tony Renda had a fine night, picking up three singles in four at-bats. Following his first single, he scored in the first inning thanks to a two-base error by Altoona right fielder Stetson Allie. With Stephen Perez at first base in the fifth inning, Renda singled to Allie, but the ball went through the Altoona outfielder's legs and rolled to the fence. Perez raced around from first to score the Senators second run via an Allie two-base error. The Senators remained quiet until Skole led off the 11th inning with the homer on the first pitch of the inning.

Tomorrow night, Harrisburg and Altoona will start game three of the four-game series at 6:00 p.m. The Senators will be giving away free Hersheypark passes to the first 2,000 kids 12-and-under. Taking the mound for Harrisburg will be Paolo Espino against Altoona's Tyler Glasnow - the No. 1 prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, according to Baseball America. The game can be heard beginning with the pregame show at 5:45 p.m. on 1460 AM Fox Sports Harrisburg or via senatorsbaseball.com, 1460theticket.com or the iHeart Radio app.

The Senators box office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available via telephone during the same hours as the box office hours.
