
Skoggard, FireAntz Shut Out RiverKings

FAYETTEVILLE, NC -- Peter Skoggard stopped all 30 RiverKings' shots against as the Mississippi RiverKings (21-14-3) fell 2-0 to the Fayetteville FireAntz (15-19-3) on Saturday night.
The eventual game-winner came just 1:41 into the first period. Kyle McNeil picked up a rebound from John Clewlow and beat Matt Krahn to put Fayetteville up 1-0.
After the next 57 minutes went scoreless, McNeil added his second goal of the game, an empty-netter, as the FireAntz snapped a five-game losing streak with the 2-0 victory.
The RiverKings were held scoreless on four power play opportunities, while the FireAntz were 0-2 with the man-advantage.
Matt Krahn (10-6-3) stopped 35 of 36 shots against in the loss. Peter Skoggard (9-10-3) stopped all 30 shots against as he picked up his fourth shutout of the season.
The RiverKings return to the Landers Center on Tuesday night to take on the Huntsville Havoc at 7:05 p.m. for "$2 Tuesday." Fans can enjoy $2 off 16 oz. draft beers and $2 hot dogs, popcorn and 24 oz. fountain drinks. Tickets are available online at ticketmaster.com.
