MacKinnon stymies Knoxville, Pensacola wins 2-1

The Pensacola Ice Flyers relied on the sparkling performance of Ross MacKinnon in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Knoxville Ice Bears.

Pensacola was sparked by John Dunbar, who had one goal. Dunbar scored 10:57 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola. Brett Lutes picked up the assist.

The Ice Flyers stifled Knoxville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 29 shots that Pensacola put on net surpassed the Ice Flyers' average of 25.0 shots per game this season.

Pensacola also got a goal from Joshua Turnbull as well. More assists for Pensacola came via Corey Banfield, who had one.

The Ice Bears' defensemen bolstered Knoxville's offensive attack, as they bombarded MacKinnon with 15 shots. The Ice Bears put 31 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.5 they average per game.

Knoxville was led by Ben Power, who scored the team's only goal. Power scored 17:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville. Francis Drolet assisted on the tally.

Ross MacKinnon made 30 saves for Pensacola on 31 shots. The Ice Flyers totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Bryan Hince recorded 27 saves for the Ice Bears. Knoxville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
