Bloomington Thunder News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Bloomington Thunder were shut out for the sixth time this season in a 4-0 loss to the Huntsville Havoc on Saturday night at Von Braun Center.
The Havoc entered the scoring column first 5:34 into the game just after a power play expired when Eric Alexander completed a tic-tac-toe at the right post from Kyle Frieday and Mike Gurtler. Nick Lazorko threw a puck into traffic in front of the crease that tumbled in just under four minutes later for a 2-0 advantage for the hosts.
Huntsville added two more in the second period on a Mike Gurtler drive from the high slot at 11:49 followed two minutes later by an opportunistic Ray Ortiz with a slap into an open net for a 4-0 lead.
B.J. O'Brien took the loss despite 35 saves while Jesse Kallechy picked up the 20-save shutout. No power play goals were recorded with four chances given to the Havoc and just one to the Thunder.
Before the game, Thunder goalie Max Strang was called up to South Carolina, marking the second time the rookie has been sent to an ECHL club after spending time earlier this season in Fort Wayne. With the Thunder, Strang is 9-12-1 in 22 games with a 3.31 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.
The Thunder return to U.S. Cellular Coliseum for a seven-game homestand starting Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. against the Peoria Rivermen. Tuesday is Pack the House Night presented by Easton Sports with $2 tickets when presenting a corresponding number of vouchers from the team's web site and Facebook page to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum box office. Special $2 prices are also in effect on Tuesday for drafts, soda, popcorn and hot dogs. For more information, call 309-434-2980 or visit Facebook, Twitter (BLMThunder) and www.bloomingtonthunder.com.
