Lincoln, NE - The Omaha Lancers were defeated by the Lincoln Stars, 4-2, on Friday night in front of 4,008 fans at The Ice Box.

After no scoring in the opening period, Lincoln took the lead early in the second frame. A rush started out through the neutral zone and Patrick Polino brought the puck into the offensive zone right circle. Polino fired a wrist shot over the shoulder of Lancers' goaltender Zackarias Skog for the 1-0 lead. The goal was Polino's tenth of the year at the 6:06 mark with assists from Anthony Wyse and Will D'Orsi.

After a turnover, the Stars took a two-goal lead later in the second period. Joachim Weberg picked up the loose puck and fired in his first goal of the season on a short break from the offensive zone hash marks. Weberg's came at 13:19 with helpers from Tye Ausmus, his first point of the year, and Sam Kauppila, his fourth assist, for the 2-0 lead.

Omaha answered back with a clutch power-play goal at 16:40 of the second period to split Lincoln's lead in half. Josh French took the puck and let a shot go from the top of the right wing circle. French's shot was blocked and rolled through the slot right to an awaiting Brannon McManus. The rookie let a one-timer go from the left circle that sailed over the right leg pad of a diving Stars' Patrick Virtanen. The goal was McManus' eighth of the season and tied him for the team lead. Josh French took the only assist for his 11th point of the season.

In the third period, Lincoln caught Omaha in a line change and converted to retake their two-goal lead. Biagio Lerario took the puck in on a breakaway while the Lancers were changing personnel on the ice. The forward went to the backhand and slipped the puck under a diving Zackarias Skog to give the Stars a 3-1 lead with 8:55 to go in regulation.

With the net empty for Omaha late in the game, Jacob Bryson scored from the point to pull the Lancers back within a single goal. However, off the ensuing puck drop, the Stars scored an empty-net goal for the 4-2 lead and the victory. Goaltender Zackarias Skog stopped 36 of 39 shots in the loss.
