Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
Sioux Falls, SD (December 11th) - The Sioux Falls Stampede shutout the Muskegon Lumberjacks 3-0, in the 2015 Clark Cup Finals rematch.
13 players from last season's finals competed in tonight's game, including Lumberjacks captain Trevor Hamilton, and Stampede captain Parker Tuomie.
Tuomie, the USHL leading goal scorer, came into tonight's game on a six game goal drought. However, he quickly erased it when he one-timed a shot past Lumberjacks goaltender Joey Daccord for a power play goal. The Stampede would take the 1-0 lead into the locker room after 20 minutes of play.
Early in the second period, the Stampede doubled their lead when Jack Suter rebounded the puck past Daccord. The Lumberjacks would have three power play opportunities to close out the second frame, but were unable to capitalize and went into the locker room with a two-goal deficit after 40 minutes of play.
Stampede forward Eric MacAdams scored midway through the third period to increase the Lumberjacks deficit to three. Despite outshooting the Stampede 39-23, the Lumberjacks were unable to get anything past Stampede goaltender Stefanos Lekkas, and lost 3-0.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks (10-9-1) will look to rebound after tonight's loss with a rematch against the Sioux Falls Stampede (14-10-1) tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. The Lumberjacks will return home December 18th when they host the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Friday at 8:30 p.m.
