Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

Muskegon, Michigan - The Lumberjacks have upped the ante for the ugly sweater contest during their December 19th game against the Cedar Rapids Roughriders.

Ugly sweaters became a holiday staple when Cliff Huxtable would sport his tackiest sweaters on the 80's sitcom, The Cosby Show. Ever since, it seems to be a routine competition for who can rock the ugliest, most-festive sweater. The Lumberjacks think that they have come up with this year's ugliest sweater, however, their only reward for such a feat is pride.

That is why, the Lumberjacks are asking their fans to rise to the occasion, and are offering impressive prizes to the best sweaters in the crowd. On Saturday, December 19th, fans are asked to "Dress to impress!" The way it works is, fans can register to enter the ugly sweater competition at the guest services tent when they arrive at the game on Saturday. They will then be asked to take a picture with Santa, and will be put in the running to be voted, by the Lumberjacks staff, the top three "ugliest sweaters" of the evening. The three chosen finalists will be brought onto the ice during the second intermission, and their fate will be left up to the fans. In scream-off fashion, someone will be crowned the winner. This lucky fan will take home a Sharp 50" TV. The run- ner-ups will have something to be proud of as well, and will be awarded an ugly sweater jersey, and flex-tickets, respectively.

Everyone in attendance who shows up in an ugly sweater will receive a voucher good for a large soda or popcorn. Tickets for the game are still available, and can be purchased at the box office or by calling (231) 724-5225.
