
Skeeters Sign Pair of Big League Vets

SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Sugar Land Skeeters and manager Gary Gaetti announced the signing of pitcher Tim Stauffer and first baseman Allan Dykstra prior to the contest with York on Tuesday.
Stauffer, 33, spent 10 seasons at the Major League level. He spent the first nine years of his big league career with the Padres before joining the Twins this season. He holds a career 33-34 record in the show with a 3.94 ERA over 73 starts and 196 appearances. The right-hander was selected fourth-overall in the 2003 draft out of the University of Richmond. Stauffer has a career minor league record of 34-32 with a 4.10 ERA.
Dykstra, 28, played 13 games with the Tampa Bay Rays this season, making the Opening Day roster. He hit .129 with a home run and four RBI. A nine-year veteran, Dykstra played in the Padres, Mets and Rays farm systems, hitting at a career .255 clip with 94 home runs and 415 RBI. Last season with the Las Vegas 51s, he hit .280 with 16 homers and 74 RBI. He was selected in the first-round of the 2008 draft out of Wake Forest with the 23rd-overall pick.
