
Skeeters Power to 10-2 Win over Patriots

Bridgewater, New Jersey - The Sugar Land Skeeters (18-10, 53-45) defeated the Somerset Patriots (10-19, 52-47) 10-2 before 6,930 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.
The Skeeters jumped out to a big lead in the top of the first inning. Denis Phipps started the scoring with a two-run double, followed by an RBI base hit by D.J. Peterson. Zach Borenstein added another run on an RBI double before Albert Cordero's two-run double made the score 6-0.
The Patriots got on the board in the bottom of the third inning on a sharp RBI single by Edwin Espinal to cut the lead to 6-1.
Sugar Land answered with back-to-back home runs in the top of the fourth inning by Anthony Giansanti (7) and Jason Martinson (13) for an 8-1 advantage.
A solo home run by Peterson (4) and an RBI double by Blair Beck in the top of the ninth inning made the score 10-1.
Alfredo Rodriguez drove in Michael Ohlman with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the ninth inning for the 10-2 final score.
Mike Hauschild (2-0) picked up the win after he allowed a run on six hits and six strikeouts in six innings pitched. Vince Molesky (3-3) suffered the loss with eight runs on 12 hits in five innings of work.
The 2019 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday, August 11th with a 5:05 pm game against the Sugar Land Skeeters. The game features a 30th Anniversary Celebration of the movie Major League featuring Corbin Bernsen presented by Toyota World of Clinton.
