SJ Sharks Recall Defenseman Matt Irwin from Worcester

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Matt Irwin from the Worcester Sharks, the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.

In nine games with the Sharks this season, Irwin has posted two points (one goal, one assist). He scored his first NHL goal on Jan. 26 vs. Colorado.

In 35 games with Worcester, Irwin has 15 points (one goal, 14 assists) and 26 penalty minutes.

The six-foot-two, 210-pound native of Victoria, British Columbia was signed by San Jose as a free agent on March 23, 2010.

The Sharks also announced that defenseman Brent Burns has been placed on injured reserve with a lower body injury.
