Inland Empire 66ers News Release
San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers recoded their biggest inning of the season and got yet another notch in infielder David Fletcher's hit streak in a 10-3 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm at San Manuel Stadium on Friday. The Sixers' eight-run outburst in the third highlighted the club's second straight win over the Storm.
Fletcher got the offense going in the first for Inland Empire (35-70, 12-23) when he singled off starter Thomas Dorminy (1-7) with one out. The knock marked the 22nd consecutive game with a hit for the Loyola Marymount University product which is the most in the California League this season surpassing his former teammate Tim Arakawa's 21 game stretch. Zach Houchins, who like Fletcher had a four-hit game in game one of the series on Thursday, knocked him home two batters later. Franmil Reyes tied the game 1-1 against Inland Empire starter Jeremy Rhoades in the second with a solo shot to center, his tenth dinger. The Sixers took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the frame when Michael Hermosillo tripled and came home on Roberto Baldoquin's RBI single.
The Sixers unloaded in the third scoring a season-best eight runs in the frame sending 12 batters to the plate. The Sixers got RBI hits in the frame against Lake Elsinore (52-53, 20-15) from Jared Foster, Houchins, Michael Strentz and the capper from Fletcher who drilled a bases-clearing three-run doubled to left to make it 10-3.
Reyes drilled a two-run double in the sixth for his second and third RBI of the game to make it 10-3. Reyes added a single for a three hit night while Edwin Moreno and Michael Gettys added a pair of hits each. Rhoades (4-9) earned the win allowing three runs on six hits with no walks and four Ks over seven frames.
Fletcher, Foster, Houchins and Hermosillo all had two-hit games for the Sixers. Angels' outfielder Shane Robinson also had two hits on an injury rehab assignment plus a walk.
The series continues Saturday at 7:05 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com and 1570 AM KPRO.
